Erika Cannon has been coaching in Montana since 1995. Since taking over the Bozeman High School program in 1996, Erika’s teams have won 6 State Championships and had 6 Second place finishes at State. In Conference play, the Hawks have only finished lower than second place four times.

Erika has also coached Montana ODP and taken multiple teams to Regional Camps and Regional Championships over the years. Back in California, Erika coached at Bishop O’ Dowd High School in Oakland for one year and the Bay Oaks Soccer Club while living in Berkeley. She also helped out with the Northern California Olympic Development program and various other camps. Erika believes the game is always evolving and as coaches we need to keep learning so that we can better serve our players. She holds a US Soccer “C” Coaching License.

Erika believes that her most important accomplishment in coaching has been helping guide hundreds of young men and women to reach their soccer and life goals. Many of her former soccer players are successful parts of their communities and have gone on to be successful community members. One of Erika’s favorite moments, was taking her family to visit a former high school player, Katie Pendleton, who works for the Seattle Sounders as a Community Outreach Manager. Not only was it wonderful to see an MLS game, but it was amazing to see the impact Katie has had on her community.
Erika grew up playing soccer in the suburbs of Sacramento, California. She went on to play soccer for the University of California at Berkeley helping guide them to the NCAA tournament in 1993, where they finished, top 4 in the West and top 16 in the country. Her junior year, her team was ranked #2 in the nation for a week after beating #2 Santa Clara. In 2015, Erika was inducted into the inaugural Lair of Legends for Cal Soccer with 8 other Cal legends including Olympic and World Cup champions, Joy Biefield Fawcett and Mary Harvey.
